TAIPEI (The China Post) — The three-year-old girl who was yanked into the air during Hsinchu Kite Festival on Sunday, only suffered some bruised her face and neck.
The video of the incident did not show how the girl, who weighs just 13 kilograms, approached the kite or get caught up in it, though it did catch the girl becoming entangled by the tail-end of the kite.
The girl, surnamed Lin, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to her face and neck.
Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien (林智堅) said the city government deeply regrets the incident and will review it to hold those responsible accountable and prevent a similar accident from happening again.
Winds reached up to 60 mph Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Following this incident, the remaining events of the festival, which was due to run until Sunday night was canceled.
