Parents of Malaysian student attends memorial service

A female Malaysian national surnamed Chung (鍾) from Chang Jung Christian University(長榮大學)was strangled to death by a stranger on Oct. 28 while on her way back to her dormitory. The suspect dragged her into ahis car before abandoning her body in a mountainous area in Kaohsiung.

In light of these tragic events, Chang Jung Christian University hosted a memorial service on Tuesday for the 24-year-old student.

Chung’s parents attended the ceremony with her ashes. The school reportedly compiled photos and videos of her at school for the occasion and gave them to her parents along with her graduation certificate.

The University’s chairman, founder and principal, as well as Chung’s classmates and friends attended the ceremony led by the school’s pastor.

Chung’s mother wept during the process, Chung’s father reached out to hold her hand tightly and patted her on the shoulder to comfort her.

Receiving her daughter’s graduation certificate from the principal, Chung’s mother held the certificate tightly in her arms and sobbed.

Chung’s father expressed appreciation for those who assisted the process, “We came to Taiwan to handle our daughter’s funeral, and we are very grateful to all the parties that helped us.

However, I cannot thank them one by one due to the epidemic, so I would like to express my gratitude to everyone here”.
