Chih Siou named ‘Best Asian New Artist’ at MAMA

TAIPEI (The China Post) — Taiwanese singer Chih Siou (持修) won the “Best New Asian Artist” award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (Mama) held in South Korea on Sunday.  

The 25-year-old singer thanked everyone through the video, saying “Hello MAMA, thank you for giving me the Best New Asian Artist Mandarin award.”

Later, he posted a photo of himself with the trophy to Instagram alongside the caption: “I’m finally connecting with the world!”  

In addition to presenting awards to outstanding South Korean singers, MAMA also had several awards to recognize artists from all over Asia.

Along with Chih Siou, singers from four other countries including Milli, Tiara Andini, Amee also won the Best Asian New Artist Award.   

The ceremony was held with no live audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, the winners who do not live in South Korea gave their speeches in the form of videos.
