TAIPEI (The China Post) — Taiwanese actor Vic Chou (周渝民) is returning to the Taiwanese showbiz with thriller drama “Danger Zone” (逆局) produced by iQIYI (愛奇藝) after a 9-year hiatus.
Chou attended a press conference on Wednesday to announce the new cast members of “Danger Zone,” including Sandrine Pinna (張榕容), Christopher Lee (李銘順), Berant Chu (朱軒洋), Tseng Chin-hua (曾敬驊), Teresa Daley (紀培慧), Wu Hsing-Kuo (吳興國).
The drama is co-directed by David Chuang (莊絢維) and Kuan-Chung Chen, and both are the directors of Netflix’s drama “The Victims’ Game” (誰是被害者).
In the new series, Chou has played three identities: a lawyer, a crime analysis expert, and a prisoner.
The collaboration between Chou and Pinne has been waiting for 20 years since they starred in the romance series “Poor Prince” (貧窮貴公子) in 2001.
The trailer released on Wednesday begins with Chou in a prison uniform, revealing that he ended up being sent to prison after he solves countless cases as a criminal psychologist.
In the press conference, Director Chuang said that Chou’s traits are similar to the character in the drama.
Asked about whether Chou would revise the script, Chuang said that Chou has always discussed it with directors. “All are constructive suggestions,” he said, “They provide a clearer picture of the character,” he said.
Chou married Reen Yu (喻虹淵) in 2015; she gave birth to a daughter the next year.
Asked about their plan for a second child, Chou shot down the pregnancy rumors and said they didn’t plan for a second child. “I don’t like to plan. If it happens, it happens; let’s go with the flow,” Chou said.
“Danger Zone” is expected to be released on iQIYI International this year.
