TAIPEI (The China Post) — The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC, 交通部) announced Tuesday that it will cooperate with the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, 中央流行疫情指揮中心) to come up with more vigorous virus-prevention measures during the Chinese New Year holiday.

According to MOTC Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍), there are currently specific plans in place to control the number of people and available parking, which will be announced after discussion with other ministries and command centers.

During a routine press conference on the same day, the CECC confirmed that they will convene later to discuss how to control the total flow of people in major scenic spots and theme parks.

Lin said that the MOTC would use past experiences as a reference to control the number of people and parking in scenic spots and transportation sites where there are more people entering and leaving.

For instance, the number of people entering and leaving will be controlled when the parking lot in scenic spots has reached 50 percent capacity.

However, they need further discussions to set up a crowd warning system together as scenic area authorities involve other ministries and commissions.

In April last year, the Tourism Bureau implemented various measures for 25 domestic tourism and amusement industries to divert tourists, setting the 50 percent benchmark as the maximum capacity for tourists in the park.
