Premier Su Tseng-chang reiterated on Tuesday that the government will punish gun owners and gun makers severely in light of the multiple armed homicides that unfolded in recent weeks.
Shooting cases happening in Tainan and Kaohsiung have not only killed many people but also caused fear in society, the premier said.
However, he added that are mostly satisfied with public security and remain confident in the police force, according to a recent poll.
He said that murder cases no matter stemming from love or hate are inevitable, however, the police have been very effective in solving the cases and arresting the suspects.
Su also ensured that the government will investigate criminal syndicates and impose severe penalties on gun owners and gunmakers.
Su called on the people to help improve public security by always notifying the police whenever they see something suspicious, such as gun-making or gun-modifying factories.
