Hsinchu County thanks Super Junior fans for PPE donation

TAIPEI (The China Post) — The Hsinchu County Fire Department thanked the fans of South Korean boy band Super Junior on Thursday for donating 5,000 sets of personal protective equipment around the country.

The Hsinchu County Fire Department’s Facebook post also led many social media users to comment thankful and hopeful messages.

It was later revealed that the Super Junior fans, who are also known as Ever Lasting Friends (E.L.F.), originally wanted to celebrate the birthday of Super Junior member Kim Ryeowook, but they couldn’t because of the epidemic.

Therefore, they decided to gather a group of five hundred people and collectively donate money and protective clothing to fight against the epidemic.

The fans donated a total of NT$330,000 along with the 5,000 sets of protective clothing in the name of Super Junior. This was distributed among the Taipei City Fire Department, New Taipei City Fire Department, Hsinchu Country Fire Department, and the Miaoli Country Fire Department.

The organizer revealed that the amount the group raised in two days actually wasn’t much, but he says, “I only hope that our donation can help. I also hope everyone can work together and help Taiwan!”
