CECC confirms arrival of 240,000 Moderna vaccines

TAIPEI (The China Post) — The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC, 中央流行疫情指揮中心) announced on Friday that the second batch of Moderna Vaccines arrived at Taoyuan International Airport in the afternoon.

The 240,000 doses were scheduled to leave from Luxembourg at 6 p.m. Central European Time (CET) and arrive in Taiwan at 3:50 p.m. Taipei Standard Time.

This batch of vaccines is only part of the total 5.05 million doses bought from Moderna on Feb. 8, 2021, the CECC explained.

Furthermore, it was revealed by the CECC that after the vaccines passed customs, they would be transported to a storage center for an inspection. Then, the vaccines would be sealed and distributed for use.

According to the results from clinical trials, each person must take 2 doses of the vaccine, but you must wait 28 days before taking the first and second dose. The Moderna vaccine’s effectiveness can reach as high as 94 percent.
