DPP to investigate legislator who secured vaccines for pediatric clinic

TAIPEI (The China Post) — The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) announced on Monday that it will conduct an internal investigation on Legislator Kao Chia-yu (高嘉瑜) for allegedly helping procure vaccines for a pediatric clinic.

DPP Secretary-General Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) remarked that the DPP does not support or agree with Kao’s actions, meaning that she could face punishment for her actions.

Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) revealed at a press conference on Saturday that Kao helped Dianthus Pediatric Clinic (小禾馨診所) obtain 85 bottles of vaccines.

Ko criticized Kao for helping the clinic violate the central government’s priority vaccination list, as the clinic wanted to use the vaccines to protect pregnant women and the medical staff who take care of newborns.

In response to media inquiries, Kao tried to downplay the issue, explaining that she was just helping the clinic.
